Here is a list of the top five things you need to do on a daily basis to help prevent injuries while exercising. Always remember to know your limits and that you should exercise to train another day.
- Do a proper warm-up and cool down before and after your exercise session. Your warm-up should be dynamic and something that mimics the exercises that you are about to perform. Your cool down should be either walking or doing some cardio at a low rpm speed, so as to lower your heart rate gradually.
- When doing your exercises make sure that you learn proper technique form a qualified personal trainer and practice it before adding weights.
- Breathing properly is very important throughout the exercises you are doing. You should exhale during exertion and inhale in the down/lengthening phase. This allows new oxygen to get to the muscles needed in order to preform the exercise efficiently.
- When you are doing complicated exercises and you are pushing yourself hard, it is very important to have a workout partner or personal trainer to spot you through the movements. We always say practice safety first!
- Your diet and proper rest is very important so that you have the energy to perform your exercises to the best of your abilities. What you eat the day before dictates how you will perform the following day!
